I collaborated with the designer Josie Glassman on this projection mapping piece to be displayed at the projection showcase, Digital Graffiti, located in Alys Beach, Florida. For this project, we explored the revealing of the Old English Alphabet through the beauty of light structured in a pattern inspired by the fantastical qualities of traditional stained glass from the 7th century. In designing for this project, we created our own modular typeface using traditional graphic design guidelines, bringing these letters back into the limelight light through their own personalized typeface.

TIMELINE: 2 Weeks

Programs: Illustrator, Mad Mapper, Adobe After Effects, and ProTools.

Process

Custom Type Lost Letters Made in Illustrator

The lost alphabet is in the order as followed ( Eth, Ash, Long S, Eng, and Yogh)

Original pattern making with guidelines

Coloration fill in Illustrator (Lighting added in After Effects!)

Stained glass molding effect in Illustrator

Next Steps: Compositing the files together, adding a radial box blur, adding coloration adjustments, putting on Universal Glow in AE, and lastly adding a 3D light and animating its movement to give off a sun beam effect. Thus, Voila! We have our beautiful stained glass above!
